Locksmith and Key Loss Handling Standards

This article explains the procedures and fees for handling situations such as locking the keys inside the car, losing the keys, needing to make a new key, or having the keys delivered during your Sky Horse rental period.

Important Note: This page explains the service fees and handling principles. The full rights and obligations are subject to the actual car rental contract.

Applicable situations

This standard applies to the following situations:

Lock the car keys inside the vehicle.
Lost car keys
The key needs to be duplicated.
Sky Horse is needed to assist in arranging key delivery.
The vehicle's location is more than 50 miles from the LAX store, requiring additional out-of-town service to be arranged.

According to Sky Horse's terms of service, the renter is responsible for the safekeeping of the vehicle keys if they are locked inside the vehicle or lost. If the service involves a different location, we will inform you of the estimated cost before arranging the service, and assist with arrangements after confirmation.

Local vs. Remote Determination Method

This standard is based on Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Store As the starting point for billing.

Local Within 50 miles of the LAX store.

Out-of-area It is more than 50 miles away from the LAX store.

If the vehicle is located more than 50 miles from LAX, locksmith, delivery, mileage and travel expenses will be charged separately based on the actual amount incurred.

However, the following expenses shall still be borne by the lessee:

Manual delivery fee US$150
Out-of-town related costs beyond 50 miles from LAX
Actual expenses incurred, such as locksmith services, delivery, mileage, and travel.

In short, Option C can waive local locksmith and key duplication service fees, but does not include delivery fees or costs for services outside the local area.

Instructions for application of Plan A, B, or no-purchase guarantee

If you purchased Option A, Option BIf the relevant insurance has not been purchased, the key service shall be borne by the lessee at his/her own expense and shall be charged in full according to the above fee standard.

Explanation of service fees for services in other locations

If the vehicle is located more than 50 miles from an LAX location, the following additional charges may apply:

Locksmith fees
Delivery fees
Mileage fees
Travel expenses
The actual fees charged by the third-party service provider

An estimated cost for out-of-town services will be provided before processing, and the service will be arranged only after your confirmation. Once the service is completed, the relevant fees will be paid using your pre-registered credit card.

Processing time

Sky Horse will assist with key-related issues as soon as possible, but the actual processing time may be affected by the following factors:

Public holidays
Working hours
Service hours available by third-party service providers
Distance from vehicle location
Local traffic and road conditions
Do we need to re-composite or reprogram the key?

Please understand that key-related issues usually require some processing time, especially in remote locations or outside of business hours.

What should I do if I encounter a key problem?

Contact Sky Horse customer service immediately.
Please provide your order name, vehicle location, and current status.
Do not damage the vehicle's door locks, windows, or any part of the vehicle's structure.
We await Sky Horse's assistance in confirming a feasible solution.
If there are any charges related to locations outside the area, the service will be arranged after the estimated amount is confirmed.

Important Reminder The renter is responsible for the safekeeping of the keys. To avoid additional costs and travel delays, please keep the vehicle keys safe and avoid leaving them inside the vehicle.
