Light Boat Glacier Adventure | A breathtaking experience of venturing deep into glacial lakes and getting close to nature

Most people visit glaciers by taking a large icebreaker and observing them from the shore, or by looking down from the air. But with a highly maneuverable kayak, you can paddle into the glacial lake yourself, weaving among floating icebergs and ice floes, listening up close to the deep melody of the glacier, getting close to the crystal-clear blue ice, and feeling the tranquility and primal power of the glacial lake. This is a stark contrast to watching a performance from the audience versus immersing yourself in an immersive experience.
This activity combines outdoor sports with sightseeing, with a professional team providing complete equipment and a Chinese-speaking guide explaining safety precautions and operating techniques throughout. Whether or not you have experience with light boats, you can participate with ease and peace of mind. This is not just about sightseeing, but an exploratory journey that makes you feel like you're part of the glacial lake, full of novelty and immersion, a truly profound and engaging experience.
Since the Knik Glacier is difficult to reach on your own, and our tour has a limited number of participants, we can not only ensure the quality of the experience but also greatly reduce crowds, making it easier for you to take amazing photos and videos!

About the "Sunshine Glacier" Knik Glacier

The Knik Glacier, located about 80 kilometers east of Anchorage, is a 40-kilometer-long glacier that winds its way down from the Chugach Mountains and pours into a lake filled with icebergs, becoming the source of the Knik River. The river flows through the Mat-Su Valley and eventually empties into Knik Bay. The glacier is 8 kilometers wide, with ice walls reaching 120 meters high rising from the lake. Ice calving occurs daily, and icebergs floating on the lake surface tumble, break apart, and collide, making it one of the most magnificent glaciers in Alaska.
Knik Glacier, often called Alaska's "Sunny Glacier," is situated in an area with a unique microclimate due to the rain shadow effect. Abundant sunshine and scarce rainfall foster a more diverse ecosystem than other glacier regions. In the past, the glacier's blocking effect caused severe flooding every summer, significantly impacting Matu Valley and earning it a National Natural Landmark designation. Now, with the glacier's retreat, the flooding problem has been greatly alleviated, and a spectacular glacial lake has formed in front of the glacier, providing an excellent location for kayaking during the trip.
Although the Knik Glacier is not far from Anchorage, about a two-and-a-half-hour drive, it is generally difficult for tourists to reach on their own and requires helicopters or special transportation. Our tour includes a professional fleet of modified off-road jeeps, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey across sandbars and valleys, allowing you to witness the breathtaking scenery along the way and leading you to this stunning icy world.

Clothing suggestions

Physical requirements
No prior experience with light boats or swimming skills are required; basic mobility and balance, along with the ability to paddle independently, are sufficient. A Chinese-speaking guide will provide operating techniques and safety instructions, ensuring a smooth and safe experience.
Carrying items
All light boat equipment required for the trip will be provided by the team. Passengers may bring their own mobile phones, cameras, GoPros, and other photography equipment, as well as personal belongings.
